So this whole new life thing involves a lot of thinking. And I mean deep thinking stuff that makes your brain hurt and your eyes leak. I have been reading lots of working out what you want in life articles and of course got lost on the internet and ended up learning about things that you can do each day to improve your life. Added bonus there isn’t really anything to make your bank manager weep.
Laugh – one of the therapeutic things you can do is laugh. They say that when you are feeling down you can help pull yourself out of it by smiling. You keep smiling till the rest of your body catches up. You also get the added bonus of walking around like a sodding Cheshire cat too. But back to laughing, if smiling lifts your mood imagine what laughing every day can do. I know for me it’s been a really long time since I have had a really good laugh and an even longer time since I have laughed every day. It’s now on my to-do list.
Eat Healthily – as a newly converted health nut I totally get this one. I have stopped eating chocolate. sweets and most sugars. I eat a lot of fruit, vegetables, and chicken. Since changing my diet radically I am starting to feel amazing.
Exercise – I use to think of exercise as a horrible word. Now I get fidgety if I haven’t done a daily run or at least walk around the block. I found the starting to exercise the most horrid bit as I thought I couldn’t. But it turns out I can. Exercise doesn’t have to involve gyms and the machines of torture. Put music on and push back the sofa. Have a good old dance.
Tell Your Loved Ones You Love Them – life is too short to leave it until another time. They might not be another time. Even if it’s just the cat, tell them you love them and never take for granted or become complacent to what you got. That goes for humans and cats.
Never Stop Learning – Make a point of learning something new each day or build on what you are currently learning. With the digital age, no one has an excuse not to learn something. You can read it, watch it or listen to it.
Make Friends With Your Thoughts – sometimes we get so busy with our to-do lists, shopping lists and everything else lists we don’t stop and give ourselves time to think. When we stop being in tune with our own thoughts we lose track of what we are aiming for in life. We don’t notice when we’ve stopped being happy or stopped doing fun things. Just a few minutes morning, night or even better both, to listen to our own thoughts can help keep thoughts positive and have results.
Be Kind And Acts Of Kindness – You never know what journeys other people are on. You don’t know what stresses they are under or what they are dealing with. So keep that mind and do something nice for someone else. I am not talking lavish here but just when you notice some looks nice, tell them. You never know you just might make their day.
Surround Yourself With Love – One of the most important thing to most people are the relationships we have those closest to us. But life and relationships are about quality not so much quantity. So spend the time with your loved ones and be in the moment. That email light will still be flashing after you have listened to their day. Don’t get complacent and take for granted anything. Listen more than you talk and nourish your relationships.
