Delinquent Tomato Plants

Delinquent Tomato Plants

Its one thing to have delinquent children, not that I have, but I seem to have 4 rather rebellious and undisciplined tomato plants.

My neighbour and I both planted our tomato seeds at the same time. Mr H being more than twice my age I know he is a lot more knowledgeable than me on all matters of veg growing. So when he re-potted his tomato plants, I duly followed. When he took his tomato plants outside, out mine went too. When I see him brandishing the tomato feed bottle, I rush to get mine. To me all the plants have been brought up the same and I would expect the plants to all look alike. (They are all the same variety too)

Mr H’s are only about 2 foot tall and stand very neatly in their rows. The leaves neatly spaced on the neat little branches (do tomato plants have branches? or they just stems?). They look perfect in Mr H’s very neat garden. Then we have mine. They are as tall as me which is 5 foot on a good day and are making a bid for freedom. They are missing a leaf here and there and their branches look like they are trying to reach into Mr H’s neat heaven. Mine are not neat in any way and look like rebellious teenagers.

There only saving grace is that they have several little green tomatoes growing.  This year hopefully we will be successful with the tomatoes.
