Twitter – I think I love you
I know it’s dangerous for me to watch DIY SOS and this week’s episode was no different. The team helped a single mum and her autistic son. Queue tissues on the screen and on my sofa. All they did was to make her life easier, to make her house a home.
This week has been full of moments of human kindness amidst a week of horrors. With riots happening in places up and down the UK, reading my twitter feed was incredible, moving and just touching. First there were tweets of support for those in the affected cities. Then there were tweets and re-tweets making sure people were getting home safely or had somewhere to stay. Then the tweets organising the clean ups.
Thousands of people, who probably don’t know each other apart from twitter, were/are all reaching out to each other. Supporting each other, helping each other and just being there for each other.
There are days I hate the way we have moved forward with technology. How we all seem to forget the simpler things in life. How money drives everyone and everything. But there are brief moments I am blown away. Tonight I am all warm and fuzzy in side at modern technology and twitter.
To all my twitter friends who I don’t know at all and would probably walk past in the street without realising, you all are so lovely.

I think Twitter is brilliant for times like this – it makes us realise that most people are genuinely decent and supportive. x
I totally agree. Awhile back I asked for help on something on twitter and two complete strangers stepped up and helped. It wasn’t a small help out. It involved their time and going out of their way. Their kindness completely blew me away.
I’m a relatively new twitterer and I admit to having my doubts before started using it. But I think it’s a fantastic community. It has offered me support and advice and I would like to think that at times I have offered the same to others.
I too followed the feeds as the riots unfolded and found the reactions really heartwarming. It restored my faith in mankind to see the good that Twitter brought about. X
Twitter can be both explosive and communal but I think the good is outweighing the bad most of the time.
Not to mention all the people you meet. If I never joined Twitter I may never have met you…….hmm….I’ll come back to you on that one lol
