Last year the veg patch was full and I was on a mission to be as self sufficient as I could. The tomatoes were a complete no go – well I thought that till the teen admitted to pinching them on the way to and from school. The plastic green house took flight and had to be retrieved from various gardens more times then it stayed still. This year fed up with eating nothing but lettuces and radishes and being I haven’t planted so much.
This year I am going for more pretty flowers. They seem a lot less work and I have to be realistic that I don’t have enough space (or energy) to be self suffcient. The herbs have been moved to tubs so that they can be put near the chair area giving me an area for pretty flowers. I have given up trying to tame the strawberries and they seem happy being left alone to do their own thing by giving me a few strawberries already.
I’m trying tomatoes again but this tie inside where I can catch tomato thieves. The runner beans are reluctant to germinate and the peas are starting to do their thing. Planted out in rather wobbly rows are lettuce, radish and swiss chard brights, if only I remembered to label them.
