They may have annoying adverts on TV at the moment. You know the one where the girl walks into a music shop and starts playing on the keyboard and a strange young man (who in my view would benefit from a hair cut) starts joining in…I like old movies…tra la la….
But they must be doing something right to be one of, if not the, most well known dating sites online. When you start to look at Match.com the first thing that may out you off is the fee at £29.99 per month but if you’re not so confident that a month is too short to find your ideal partner than you are better off looking at their longer memberships.
1 month is £29.99, 3 Months is £59.97 (which equates to £19.99 a month) and 6 months is £89.94 ( £14.99) but if 6 months is still not long enough and you haven’t found your match by the end of 6 months they give you another 6 months free. If you get the old grey cells working ,you will work out that the extra 6 months plus your first 6 months makes each month £7.50 a month. Now that’s more like it.
Creating your profile – Oh the lovely job of describing yourself complete with all your good bits. It may look like it will take you forever to fill it all out but if you really serious about finding a partner then its a must. You’re creating a virtual picture about yourself so the more time and effort you put in the more you will get out of it. If your still not convinced that you need to fill it all in have a think from the other side. If you had two profiles in front of you and had to choose which one to contact which would make you get in contact more. The one that had filled in it so you had an idea of their likes and dislikes etc or the one that wasn’t filled in and left most f it to your guess work?
Can’t I stick to free? At match.com you can stick the free version but you cant do a great deal proactively in finding your ideal match. If you stick with free you can create a profile, search for matches and send winks. (winks are a subtle way of showing someone your interested before taking the bold step of emailing them). If you stay with free you can’t read or write emails or see who has visited your profile. But the plus side is that you can view unlimited number of profiles so you will get a good idea of what’s on offer before plunging into the paid.
The best bits – huge amount of info on the profiles and most popular site.
The worst bits – its pricey at the 1 and 3 month options.
