3 Things To Do Instead Of Watching The World Cup

It may not have escaped your notice but there is a little matter of a football thing about to start. In case you don’t know its starts 14th June and runs until 15th July. And it’s on about just about every night. Prime-time too with kick off being anywhere between  4 to 7 pm.  But apparently its ok as it only happens every 4 years *rolls eyes*. 64 games. 25th and 28th June England are playing, just in case, you want to catch those ones.

Now there are two ways of looking at the looming World Cup. Its 4 weeks or 64 games (some days have up to 4 football games in one day). Pick which works for you and go with it.

3 Things To Do Instead of Watching The World Cup

First up you could get stuck into a Box Set

Some series are just made to binge watch. Here are three very different ones and all I have enjoyed so much they may be on my list re-watch instead of the football.

The Crown – 20 episodes. Only 20 episodes so ideal if you don’t want to commit to a full 64 football games as you have a life.

Breaking Bad – 62 episodes. I’ll say it now, series one can be a bit hard work and you may wonder what on earth you are watching and you think you won’t get into it. Then suddenly you’re hooked. Plus at 62 episodes it lets you watch the 2 England games.

Game of Thrones – 67 episodes. I use to be the person who said I would never ever watch Game of Thrones. Then one day I was really bored and I tried the first episode and I was hooked. Not one for any little eyes as there are violence and adult scenes. The adult scenes do fade off in the later series but the violence doesn’t as its set in a time when that is what they do.

Mad Men – 92 episodes. I think the biggest thing I loved about this, apart from the actual plot and all that, is the gradual change from 1960 to more present day. The wardrobe and props department have done an absolutely amazing job on research and carrying it through to the screen.

Walking off Over Half a Stone

The healthy choice. Now an hours walk an average person could burn around 356 calories. You need to burn an extra 3500 calories to lose a pound in weight. So a football game is 90 mins x 64 matches gives us 96 hours. Sooooo that could be 9lb weight loss. Now, of course, they are all rough calculations and going on the average person. If you ended your walk at the pub for a glass of wine you might not get the same results. But then if you vow to eat only healthy for the 4 weeks and you could be talking a whole different ball game too.

Oh and by only committing to it for 64 football games you are more likely to complete it as its more achievable than an exercise programme that has no end.
