Dream Duvet Day
When I was a kid it was unheard of to have a duvet day. You were made to stay in bed if you were poorly but that wasn’t considered luxury, it was if anything a form of torture. Other kids were out playing and you could only watch from the window, another form of torture. My parents never had duvet days. Mum stayed in bed till 9am once but that was only because it was her birthday and it was only the once. Life was all about being up bright and early, getting on with the day and going to bed at bedtime. If you had spare time you obviously had forgotten to do something.
Fast forward to life as an adult and the term duvet day is now used in almost hushed tones like its something gorgeous and forbidden. Well quiet frankly it is. I mean a day, a whole day, staying in bed just because you can. The sheer decadence of it. Its becoming such a ‘thing’ that the lovely mattress people over at Eve Mattress want to know all about our dream duvet days.
I think I may have blogged about mattresses and the importance of them before. As I have M.E I am quiet often in a lot of pain. Not specific pain like in my big toe but pain everywhere. Everything just hurts. Bits I didnt know could hurt shout out that they hurt. Small tasks like brushing hair become forms of torture. Putting sock on ….forget that its all the way down there and if I get there I’d never get back. So beds become best friends to M.E sufferers. We can curl up in the coolness of the sheets. Snuggle into soft pillows. Pretend for a moment it will go away.
So my perfect duvet day would be quiet simple really as I would enjoy the simpleness and quietness of the day.
- Big fluffy duvet and pillows in gorgeous covers. Egyptian cotton or fancy girly patterns.
- Horrible weather. I love to watch the rain hitting the window pain when safely inside. Plus if it was sunny I would feel guilty I wasnt sorting out the weeds.
- My kindle all charged.
- Supply of food. Anything that doesn’t create crumbs.
I would sit, sprawl, lye straight, lye curled in the silence. In peace. Ponder. Think. Enjoy.
Oh and one last necessity, the kids would have to be away all day as I have found the quickest way to get them to never stop talking is to say you need some peace.
What would be your dream duvet day?
