This weekend we went to a wedding. Not a fancy pants kind of wedding but a relaxed, colourful and all about fun kind of wedding. The dress code was garden party crossed with comfort. For someone who hasn’t worn anything with a heal for many years let alone actually owning anything that wasn’t jeggings or jeans it filled me with dread. Several dresses bought, discarded and returned later I found something I was comfortable enough in. I am considerably bigger than I use to be and not confident with my weight so I did camera dodge all day or stand behind tall people in group shots.
But one thing it did make me realize was how my fashion style is just what I have grabbed that is clean. Taking the time to wear dresses or heals is not on my agenda anymore but maybe it should be. I’ve teamed up with Lyst to see whats new out there and more importantly can an over 40 woman ( thats age not my size) wear dresses again.
Ive found two dresses that I could wear in the daytime failry easily if matched with sensible shoes.
Oh bags , I found the bags. This little beauty would look so much better on my arm than the current back pack that I sport. Well I am always carrying books and netbook with me that its just so much easier to sling it on my back. Not a fashion trend I know.
Glitter + heels = perfection . Well to me it does. I use to adore my heals. I still have them in the wardrobe not that I can fit into any of them. These sadly wouldnt fit into y wardorbe style but lets just sit and gaze at their beauty for awhile…
But the THE dress has got to be this one. Someone needs to create an event that I can wear this one. If I could just order the body too and the bank balance to make it possible I would be very pleased. As a former dressmaker who made wedding dresses I know how much work has gone into this. I think women should have many occasions in their lives where they are called to dress in show stopping, jaw dropping dresses. Wearing dresses of this caliber would make you feel nothing less than a million dollars.
